Bill Griffin, Sr, 87, of Clinton, MO passed on August 13, 2015. A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 PM, Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton. A family service will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 in Terrace Park Cemetery at 11 AM, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) KCMO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Twin Lakes Hospice, 725 E. Ohio St., Clinton, MO 64735.
Bill was born on June 16, 1928 in Spickard, MO to Wilber and Nina (Kincade) Griffin. After his schooling, he served his country and joined the Army in 1946. In May of 1948, Bill married W. Christine (Chris) Curtis and together they spent 34 years before her passing. Bill later married Nancy R. Eads in May of 1985. She survives him after 29 years together. In July of 1949, Bill went to work for Gulf Mobile and Ohio Railroad. He retired after working there for over 40 years. For 24 of those years, Bill lived in the North Kansas City area. After retiring, he moved down to Clinton, MO where he had spent the last 29 years. Bill was a member of the Armstrong, MO Masonic Lodge and was also a long time member of the Ararat Shrine.
Those left to cherish Bill’s memory include his wife, Nancy R., son, Billy “Dusty” Griffin, Jr. and wife Nancy L. of Topeka, KS, 2 step-daughters; Garilyn Riisberg and husband Ove of Paducah, KY, Wilma Peden and husband Don of Lexington, Il, numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
