Betty Sweany Hulfeld, 88, of Independence, MO, died on Thursday, January 15, 2015. She was born in Maywood, MO, on July 25, 1926 to the late Charles E. VanHorn and Mary Eddy VanHorn.
She retired from Ben Franklin Stores where she worked as a Human Resources Manager. She was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Kansas City and was a volunteer for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
Betty was the loving mother of Susan (Mark Webb) Sweany and David Sweany; dear grandma of Justin “JR” and Kaycee and precious great-grandma to their daughter Moira. She was a dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her first husband Dean Sweany and her son Bob.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Terrace Park Funeral Home 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek), Kansas City, MO 64155 from 2 PM until time of service at 3 PM with Pastor Joel Whiteside officiating.
