Barbara Ann Ragle, 86, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 30, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Marguerite and Fred Essig. Barbara graduated from Liberty High School and went on to marry Willard Ragle in 1956. Together, they were blessed with four children.
Barbara dedicated herself to raising her children in a Christian home and as a stay-at-home mother throughout their school years. She kept busy with various jobs such as working on the election board and at Macy's, as well as volunteering her time as a room mom and den mother in her children's schools and activities. Known for her love of baking and her talent for finding bargains, Barbara had a special knack for decorating the family home. She enjoyed reading, watching old movies and listening to old music, which was often played in the car for her grandchildren, who fondly requested her to play the "Be Bop" song.
She was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever anyone was in need and could often be found reading her Bible, which was a source of comfort and guidance throughout her life. She attended Fellowship of Grace Church for the past three years with her son.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Marguerite and Fred Essig; brothers, Joseph Compton and James Essig; sisters, Jeanne Meadows and Sylvia Short; and the father of her children, Willard Ragle. She is the last of her siblings. She is survived by her four children, Donna (John) Barcus, Karen (Roger) Wagoner, Peggy Lancaster, and David (Melinda) Ragle; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral & Cemetery on Saturday, July 27th, with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, funeral service at 2:00pm, followed by burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Parkville Animal Shelter (the donation amount may be entered in the quantity field).
Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, her love for her family, and her unwavering faith. May she rest in peace.
