Arthur Anderson passed into eternal life at the age of 97 on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his home in Gladstone surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 17, 1919 in Superior, Wisconsin to the late Anton F. and Mathilda Anderson.
During the depression, Art worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, as part of the 12 Bomb Group, 434th Bomb Squadron “Earthquakers”; hosting several of their reunions including the 70th consecutive reunion in 2015. Initially he worked at Rupert Die Casting and later became a letter carrier with the USPS. He was a 50 year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Art enjoyed bowling and was a member of the USBC Double Nickel and Golden Oldies Senior bowling leagues at Gladstone Bowl. He also enjoyed the outdoors, putting together puzzles and spending time with family.
Arthur is survived by his children: Jo-Anne and John Vogl, Phillip Anderson, Barbara and Bill DeSmet, Janet and Joseph Flannery, Kristina Bell, Stephen and Cindy Anderson, Mary and Steve Mahan; daughter-in-law Margret Syrett Anderson; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, also surviving are his brothers Harvey (Edith) Anderson, Gilbert Anderson and other extended family.
In addition to his parents Arthur is preceded in death by 3 brothers, 5 sisters, and his wife of 70 years Anne Anderson, who passed away in 2015.
Services will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 801 NW 108th St. (169 Hwy & Shoal Creek) Kansas City, MO, on Friday, June 10, 2016. Visitation will be from 10-12 PM, followed by a Rosary and family sharing. Graveside service with military honors will follow.
