Anna Maria Dorothea Tournoy, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017. Born in Heythuysen, Holland, she and her husband of 60 years, Louis Hilaire Tournoy of Oostende, Belgium, moved to the United States in 1958. Lou, previously a fighter pilot in the Royal Belgian Airforce, worked for Trans World Airlines (TWA). She was educated in a Dutch boarding school and until her marriage worked in her family’s business, a Volkswagen dealership in the south of Holland. They originally moved to New York and later settled in Kansas City, becoming citizens in 1963. A devoted mother, she was the glue of the family and sought out for her wise counsel. She is survived by her husband Lou and her three children: Evelyn Moore (widow of Andrew)—children Rachel, Elizabeth and Andrew, Jr.; Michael Tournoy and wife, Kimberly—children Andrew and his family, Benjamin and wife Sarah, and Michael Jr.; and Jacques Tournoy and wife Maureen—children Brendan and Grace. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 11, at Church of the Good Shepherd, 1860 N 169 Highway, Smithville, MO; visitation is at 10:30 am. Flowers may be sent to the church.
