Alma A. Morris, 91, died peacefully on January 2, 2025, at Village Shalom in Overland Park, KS. A lifelong resident of Kansas City, she was born Alma Carlson on March 18, 1933. She met her husband Jack I. Morris at Swope Park and married in 1953. Alma worked at the Federal Reserve Bank, taking years off to raise her two children, Dale and Kathy. She loved to travel and, in addition to North American trips with Jack and other family, she traveled abroad with her children to France, England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden. Those trips formed some of her fondest memories. With a quiet dignity and wry sense of humor, Alma was a warm-hearted person who was beloved by everyone who knew her.
Alma was pre-deceased by sister Ruby Bietka and brother Richard Carlson. She lost her husband of 55 years, Jack, in 2008, and her son, Dale, in 2014. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Paul Gorman of Prairie Village, KS; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Morris and Robert Kraus of Williamstown, MA; her son’s widow Lynne Garell of Bize–Minervois, France; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Village Shalom and the hospice team at Catholic Community Health for their care of Alma during her journey with Alzheimer’s. Visitation and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Village Shalom, Catholic Community Health, or any charity of your choice.
