Allen Cox

On Saturday, February 16th, 2019 Allen Eugene Cox, Loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather (papa) was welcomed into his heavenly home at the age of 91.

Allen was born August 1st, 1927 in Batesville, Arkansas to Acie and Viola Cox. He was one of five children and had an upbringing full of joy and excitement.

Allen was drafted into the Airforce in April of 1946. He proudly served his country for three years in Panama as a truck driver and mechanic, then was honorably discharged in February of 1949.

Following his service to his country, Allen married Janice. They were blessed with three amazing boys; David, Dan, and Doug. They spent 21 memory filled years together.

In December of 1971, Allen married Schiela and gained a daughter, Jacquie. Allen and Schiela enjoyed traveling the world and shared 47 years together.

Allen continued using his skills from the Service and made a career for himself at TWA. He built a reputation through his passion of working with his hands. He worked his way into a lead mechanic position. This passion was shared with his sons who still enjoy it today. Allen retired from TWA after 30 years.

In retirement, Allen spent his days playing golf. He enjoyed sharing this passion with his grandchildren and practicing with them at the park down the street from his home. When not playing golf, Allen enjoyed watching westerns with his beloved dogs.

Later in life, Allen enjoyed dedicating his time to serving of others in his community. He volunteered with Meals On Wheels for 15 years. He also enjoyed worshiping and studying The Lord’s word with his brothers and sisters in Christ.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents Acie & Viola; his siblings A.R., Mildred, and Jess; his daughter Jacquie; and his grand-daughter Lisa.

Allen is survived by his wife Schiela; his sister Bobbi; his sons David, Dan, and Doug; his grandchildren Austin, Jonathan, Jordan, Ben, Sarah, Hayden, Matthew, Kristen, Julie, Stephen, and Cody; and his great-grandchildren Cole, Katelynne, Courtnie, David, Gavin, Gage, Davis, Truman, and Mason, along with many beloved family and friends.

Allen’s visitation and funeral will be held on Friday, February 22nd, at 10am and 11am respectively at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, located at 2003 NE Englewood Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64118.
