Alice Jean Lourwood, 87, of Overland Park, Kansas, entered into her eternal life with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2022. She was born to the late David Earl and Alyce Marie Figg on March 04, 1935 in Clyde Park, Montana. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Lourwood. They were married for 57 years.
Jean was a fighter to the end. Her family affectionately called her “The Energizer Bunny” as she kept going and going…she had a true servant’s heart, having been a registered nurse for over 40 years! She graduated from nurses training in 1958 and had touched many lives at the Bethany Hospital in Bethany, Oklahoma, Atlanta Public Health Department in Georgia, Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, and the last 30 years of her career at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri in the ER, labor and delivery, and geriatrics departments.
She loved to travel and often accompanied her friends from church on work and witness missions trips all over the world. She traveled with friends and family to Portugal, England, Thailand, Guatemala, Israel and Germany. When she wasn’t working or traveling, it was a safe bet you’d find her tending to her vast garden of vegetation and flowers. She had a green thumb.
She was a best friend to her children and a fierce protector of her children and grandchildren - they were her absolute pride and joy. She taught them of love and life everlasting. She was an excellent role model. Her family will be forever grateful for her love and support.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother: David Figg, and her sister: Dorothy Figg.
She is survived by her children: Stefanie Lourwood (Michael) and Kenny (Jenny) Lourwood; brother: Jim (Darlene) Figg; sister in law: Lucy Figg; grandchildren: Zach Baugher, Bree Hurley, Sophia Hurley, Libby Lourwood, and Samantha (Jason) Derryberry; great grandchildren: Emmy and Collin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
