Alfred McNeal

ALFRED JAMES McNEAL
Alfred James McNeal, 90, of Smithville, MO passed on April 18, 2015 at the Kansas City VA Hospital. He was born on January 4, 1925 in Sayre, PA to Nathaniel McNeal and Susie Irene Strope. Alfred served in the United States Marine Corps. during WWII and received a purple heart for his sacrifices during the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was married to his loving wife for 53 years, Pauline Moore and to this union, 6 children were born.  In all his years of work, Alfred was most proud of the business he started, Al’s Cabinet Shop, where he made and installed custom cabinets. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and later in life, he learned how to play the guitar.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pauline, twin sisters, Alice and Alberta, and 1 great grandson.
Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Cheryl McNeal, Cassie Huntley, Sharon Shipers; sons, Alfred James McNeal, II, Jerry McNeal; daughter, Betsey Newman; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren with one on the way, and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be Thurs., April 23 from 10 AM-11 AM with services following at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church in Smithville, 300 S Bridge St, Smithville, MO. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
