Ada Ruth (Guffey) Blowers went to be with her Lord on February 23, 2019. Ada was born on April 22, 1933 to Benjamin and Maude Guffey. Ada attended Putnam County High School and upon graduation attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing School in St. Joseph, MO earning her RN. She began her nursing career in Unionville, MO, but soon moved to Kansas City, MO to work at Trinity Hospital there. While working at Trinity Hospital, Ada met Elizabeth Blowers who introduced her to her brother William (Bill) Blowers, through letters, as he was serving his country in Germany. They married on September 22, 1957, making their home in Gladstone, MO. They soon welcomed 2 sons into their home, completing their family. Ada enjoyed motherhood and was active in her sons lives, being a Den Mother for their Cub Scout Packs and Room Mother in their class rooms. She was also an active member of Barry Christian Church, participating in the Christian Women’s Fellowship group as a member and a leader. For many years she participated in a Wednesday morning bowling league. Ada had a great love of flowers and found much joy in her personal greenhouse. Ada and Bill loved to camp and were active members of the Winnebago International Travelers Club. She enjoyed attending the many Winnebago rallies offered through the club and all the many friends they made by being a member of this group. Upon her husband’s retirement, they continued their love of traveling. They lived in South Texas in their Winnebago in the winter months to get away from the cold, and returned to their Gladstone home for the summer months, where she enjoyed time with friends and family and tending to her beloved flowers. The last few years, Ada and Bill made their home in Tyler, TX to be closer to their boys. In her last years, Ada struggled with dementia, but never lost her smile or kind heart.
Ada is preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Maude Guffey .
Ada is survived by her husband, William Earl Blowers, Jr, (who has since passed away August 13, 2020), her brother, Melvin Guffey (Linda), Lenexa, KS, her sister Irene Teig (Jack), Lee's Summit, MO and her sons, Dennis Franklin Blowers (Lisa) of Orange, TX and Alan William Blowers (Mendy) of The Colony, TX, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
