Michael James Moran, son of the late James & Rosella (Dolan) Moran, was born on June 9, 1947 and departed this life on March 27, 2019. At the time of his passing he was 71 years of age.
Mike was born in O’Neill, NE and at an early age he moved to the Omaha, NE area where he graduated from high school. After graduation he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and later to transfer to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and received his medical degree. While in college he was united in marriage to Diane Owens and to this union three children were born, all of whom survive him. Mike served his medical residency with the United States Navy in California. While serving his term with the Navy, the family moved to Charleston, SC where he worked as a pediatrician. After his time of service with the Navy was finished, the family then relocated to Papillion, NE where he started his own pediatric practice. In 2002, the family settled in Kansas City, MO where he worked at Children’s Mercy Hospital. He was a great advocate for children in his work with chemical dependency, child abuse & neglect and was a founding member of the Society for Pediatric Urgent Care. Outside of the office, he was a devoted father, loving husband and loved spending time with his family. Together, the family enjoyed spending time together going on various different trips to Disney World.
Mike was preceded in passing by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Diane Moran; three children, Chris (Pat) Moran, Brian (Hillary) Moran and Katie (Jon) Carpenter; six grandchildren, Anna Moran, Madison Moran, Shauna Moran, Gracie Moran, Madison Carpenter and Knox Carpenter; one great-grandchild, Isaiah Moran; five siblings, Sister Ann Moran, John (Mary) Moran, Mary (Irv) Wheeldon, Tom Moran and Rick Moran. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, friends and family who will all truly miss him.
